Remembering September 11th, 2001
On Friday, September 11, we mark the 25th anniversary of the tragic and violent events of 9/11. People around our nation, and around the world, will recall the attacks which took place in New York, Washington, and Pennsylvania. Members of our own parish community lost loved ones on that day twenty-five years ago. Here at Saint Mary’s, we will prayerfully remember all of those who died or were injured.
On the evening of Friday, September 11,
we will gather at 7:00 PM in our church
for a special Mass of Remembrance.
That Mass will begin with a solemn Litany of Remembrance, which will include the names of parish loved ones who died 25 years ago. If you have a family member or friend who died on 9/11, we will be honored to include them in our Litany of Remembrance. Please submit their names by calling Kathleen Hogan at the parish office (804-740-4044).
Because of this special Mass, there will be no 9:00 AM Mass on September 11th.
On the weekend of September 12-13, we will also offer special prayers at each Mass in memory of those who were killed and wounded 25 years ago.
