1. MIDDLE SCHOOL PROGRAMS (Grades 6 & 7)

Sunday Afternoon: This gathered formation program meets on select Sundays, 12:15 pm - 1:45 pm.  Time includes: social/snack time until 12:30, gathering activity, featured teaching, small group reflection options and prayer. We will use the Unleashed materials created by Life Teen as the catechetical component this year and will adapt them appropriately for each of the groups of youth. Led by youth ministry staff and small volunteer team. 6th and 7th meet on alternate Sundays. See 6th grade Calendar. See 7th grade Calendar.

Home Study: (Grades 6 & 7)

For families who wish to incorporate religious education into the daily home life of the family on a convenient schedule.  Students receive a textbook with assigned readings to complete throughout the year.  An accompanying study booklet must be completed and returned to the Youth Ministry staff.  These materials will be ready for pick up in mid-October.  We will notify you when they are ready.  Also, the turn in deadline will be adjusted to provide more time, since we are beginning later.

2. MIDDLE SCHOOL PROGRAMS (Grade 8)

Sunday Night This gathered program usually meets twice a month on select Sunday evenings, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm.  Pizza dinner and social time from 6:00 - 6:30 pm.  This program integrates social, catechetical, and prayer components into each session.  We will use the Unleashed materials created by Life Teen as the catechetical component this year and will adapt them appropriately for each of the groups of youth. Led by youth ministry staff and volunteer team. 8th grade and high school meet on alternate Sundays. See 8th grade Calendar.

Home Study For families who wish to incorporate the "formal" religious education of their children into the daily home life of the family.  Students received a textbook with assigned readings to complete throughout the year.  Review sheets for these chapters are given which must be completed and returned to the Youth Minister upon completion.  These materials will be ready for pick up in mid-October.  We will notify you when they are ready.  Also, the turn in deadline will be adjusted to provide more time, since we are beginning later.

3. HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAMS (Grades 9-12)

Sunday Night:  This gathered program usually meets twice a month on select Sunday evenings, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm.  Pizza dinner and social time from 6:00 - 6:30 pm.  This program integrates social, catechetical, and prayer components into each session.  We will use the Unleashed materials created by Life Teen as the catechetical component this year. Led by youth ministry staff and volunteer team. 8th grade and high school meet on alternate Sundays. See High School Calendar.

Home Study Program: For high school youth who cannot attend the Sunday Night Program, this non-gathered option gives parents (parent is the catechist) and teens the resources to engage in a home-based catechetical program on a schedule that works for them. More detailed information to be provided when materials are available for pick up in mid-October. We will notify you when they are ready.  Also, the turn in deadline will be adjusted to provide more time, since we are beginning later.

Confirmation Preparation: Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation is open to all teens in the 10th grade or above.  Teens must be registered in a Catholic High School or Youth Faith Formation program in addition to participating in the Sacrament preparation program.

The Catholic Diocese of Richmond issued Confirmation Preparation policies in 2010.  These policies prescribe the curriculum to be covered and have set a 20 hour preparation program which includes 4 “modules”, 1 retreat, and a post Confirmation gathering.  All details of the new preparation program will be described in detail at the orientation.

Confirmed  High School Youth Opportunities (Grades 11-12)

Youth Leadership Program:  This program invites our oldest teens into roles of youth leadership with children and middle school youth.  Registration for this program serves as an application, pending approval by the Director of Christian Formation and/or Youth Ministers.  Ministering alongside adult leaders, youth will lead one of our formation programs: either the Sunday Elementary Program, the Wednesday afternoon Elementary Program, the Sunday afternoon 6th or 7th grade program, or the Sunday night 8th grade program.  There is no registration fee.

Peer Ministry Program:  This program invites our oldest teens into roles of peer leadership.  Peer ministers help direct activities, co-facilitate small groups, lead prayer and worship, alongside adult leaders.  Registration for this program serves as an application, pending approval by the Youth Ministers.  Youth are asked to indicate their interest in either ministering at our Sunday Night Life Teen Program, our monthly Youth Confirmation Preparation Program, or both.  There is no registration fee.
