Jesus the Model of Prayer
Led by Deacon Joe Morlino
Wednesday evenings: May 31, June 7, and June 14 | 7:00 - 8:30 PM

Jesus not only taught his disciples to pray when they asked, he also showed them. In these sessions, we will explore the Gospel accounts of Jesus praying at various times and places and what we can learn from his example for our own prayer life. Each session includes a presentation and group discussions.

 

Catholic Social Teaching: Our Best Kept Secret?
Led by Deacon Peter McCourt
Thursday evenings: June 15, 22, and 29 | 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Join Deacon Peter McCourt for an exploration of the rich tradition of social teaching by our Church on a variety of contemporary topics. Learn more about what some have called “our best kept secret.”  

 

Pope Francis & the Liturgy: The Call to Holiness and Mission
Led by Deacon Chris Morash
Tuesday mornings: June 27, July 11, and July 18 | 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM

Participants will read an insightful book by Msgr. Kevin Irwin, who says: “This book explores how Pope Francis understands the liturgy in relationship to his two recent predecessors, and how he is using it in his own way to help people ‘hear the voice of the Lord and feel welcomed.’” Sessions will focus on Pope Francis; liturgical initiatives; Inculturation, Participation & the Vernacular; Continuity, and Development.

 

Teach Us to Pray
Led by Deacon Kirk Collins
Wednesday evenings: July 26, August 2, and August 9 | 7:00 - 8:30 PM

Our Catholic tradition has gifted to us with many forms of prayer "to know, love, and serve" our God. In these sessions, prayer in general will be discussed (including its fruits and difficulties) and specific prayers will be explored revealing their richness and depth. Come and pray together with a presentation and group discussion.

 

Practicing Our Faith:  The Intersections of Faith, Religion, and Spirituality in Our Lives
Led by Deacon Frank Baskind
Thursday morning: August 24 and 31 | 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM

While participating in small group conversations reflecting on information and video vignettes about spirituality, religions, and faith, we will explore the meaning of spirituality, its relationship to religion and faith, and the nature of spirituality across differing faith perspectives.
