Saint Mary's Church has started a new collaboration with Commonwealth Catholic Charities (CCC) to support SETON HOUSING, an important new pro-life ministry in central Virginia. Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous parish donor, St. Mary's recently donated $10,000 to CCC in support of the Seton Housing initiative.
CCC's Pregnancy Counseling services assist women in crisis to make life-affirming decisions for themselves and for their babies. CCC seeks to surround women with supportive resources so that they will be able to give birth to their children, choosing to either parent the baby or place the child with an adoptive family.
One of the greatest challenges for many pregnant women is housing instability. CCC is therefore opening SETON HOUSING, which will provide critically-needed housing for pregnant women. Those same women will be surrounded by an array of supportive services by CCC, and they will receive rental subsidies and post-pregnancy support.
Saint Mary's is pleased to be able to offer financial support to this important new effort, knowing that the availability of stable housing opportunities will offer crucial resources to women who are experiencing unexpected pregnancies.
