The Endowment Fund for Human Concerns was established to provide perpetual funds for people in need of food, clothing, shelter, or health services. These funds are disbursed annually to non-profit organizations which either provide these direct services to people, or work to promote social justice.
In 1981, St. Mary’s participated in the establishment of Marywood Apartments , a housing facility for older, low income people. Under the terms of the program, the parish received compensation for the land it provided. Sometime later, a portion of these proceeds was used to create The Endowment Fund for Human Concerns. The fund was designed to operate for many years by adhering to a formula which channels a bulk of its earnings for those in need, while preserving the core investment. In the years since its inception, it has addressed a wide range of human needs.
On Friday, May 28, 2021, our application form will be posted on our parish website. If you are a parishioner who works or volunteers with a non-profit organization that either serves people with direct services, or works to promote social justice in our diocese, please invite them to complete and submit an application. The applications are due back in the Human Concerns office no later than June 30, 2021. Questions? Contact Rebecca in the parish office.
