Coordinator of Adult Formation Announcement

A Special Announcement from Fr. Renninger

Saint Mary’s Church is pleased to announce that Richard Mallory has been called to serve as the Coordinator of Adult Formation for our parish community. Richard will begin this new ministry on November 21.

Richard is already a ‘familiar face’ here at Saint Mary’s. He has worshipped at our parish for the past 8 years and has been active in a variety of ministries. He is a lector at weekend Masses and has participated in numerous adult formation classes and programs. Richard is active in our Knights of Columbus Council and assists with our outreach programs.

Richard Mallory brings a diverse range of skills and experience to our parish which will enhance our ministries for adult faith formation. He was raised in the Methodist tradition and received a B.S. in History & Religion from Ferrum College.

Responding to the call of the Holy Spirit in his life, Richard began preparation for ordination as a Methodist minister, and he undertook further Religious Studies at the Saint Paul School of Theology in Kansas City, MO.

After ordination as a Methodist minister, Richard served as an Associate Pastor in Missouri and then came to Virginia where he served as pastor in two Methodist Churches.

Prompted by the Holy Spirit, Richard later became a police officer in Henrico County, serving from 2009 to the present. As a police officer, Richard served the community through Patrol Operations, Community Policing Initiatives, School Services, and Faith Coalition Leadership. Richard will continue to serve as a police officer in Henrico County even as he undertakes his new ministry here at Saint Mary’s.

In 2009, Richard participated in the RCIA process and entered into full communion with the Roman Catholic Church. Since that time, he has been dedicated to being a life-long learner, seeking to grow in his faith and to be immersed in the life-giving joy of our Catholic tradition. He looks forward to sharing his love for our Christian faith with the adults of our parish. He will assist all of us in sharing our faith in Jesus with our families, neighbors, and friends.

In addition to this part-time staff position at our parish, Richard will continue his service as a police officer in Henrico County.

Please pray for Richard Mallory as he joins our parish staff and begins this new ministry!
